Botanica

Olivia was out of school today, so we spent the afternoon with a friend of mine and her two kids. Her son, Robby, is a year younger than Olivia and her daughter, Alison, is 3 months older than Abigail. So, talk about a fun play date! We decided to head to Botanica, Wichita's beautiful botanical gardens. The fall foliage was so pretty! And their children's garden is so amazing! I had to pry Olivia away from the treehouse.

As my friend, Jenifer, said: Today it's shared bottles, tomorrow it'll be juice boxes and soon it will be coffee.

After twenty years, Jenifer still knows exactly what I need when I'm feeling down. We all had such a great time!

Happy Halloween

So many things happening today, I had to switch gears a lot. That was tough. We lost my grandma, like I said, early this morning (between 3-4 am I believe?) Her funeral will be Monday at 10 am. If you are needing more info, you may email me.

Twelve years ago on Halloween, Ryan proposed to me by dressing up as a trick or treater.

Our cat, Tobey, had his third surgery and had three more teeth removed today.

Annnd, it was Halloween and we had Olivia's party at school and trick or treating. I am beat. But here are a few pictures from our day.

I made ghost bananas, witch hats and pumpkins for Olivia's party.

We had quite a bit of snacks at the party and a game and a craft. It was a really good party.

Can you find Olivia in the gym?

Olivia's kindergarten class

Abigail had to talk with big sis about exactly what they were doing.

My cute little ladybug.

My sweet little black cat ready to trick or treat.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Grandma Passed Away

My sweet grandma passed away this morning. It happened faster than we could have anticipated. They assumed we had at least 4 days. But that tells me she was ready to go. She is with her husband and brothers and sisters and parents and her baby boy that she lost. When I told Olivia she said," Great Grandma Wanda gets to be with Logan!!" I'm so blessed to know that Olivia realizes heaven is such a wonderful place!

My Grandma

I found out this week that they will be stopping dialysis on my grandma and she will be going back home. Hospice is with her now. I think they give her a few days to a week to live. Thankfully she was involved in the decision and I know she is ready to go home and be with my grandpa. She has always been a great grandma and such a sweet lady. I still remember how many pillows she would put on the side of the bed when we stayed the night. . .even when we were way too old to fall out. My favorite color used to be yellow, so she always saved the yellow cup for me. I didn't have the heart to tell her when yellow was no longer my favorite color. 😄 I am thankful that Olivia is old enough to remember her and I really wish Abigail was able to. She has always been a great mother, wife, grandmother and great grandma. Please say some prayers for her and my family during this upcoming week.

Update on Tobey

He goes in for his third surgery on Thursday for more teeth extractions. We also believe he has a severe food allergy. This could be the reason for all the vomiting. We aren't sure if it is to seafood, wheat, corn, etc. But, we will most likely have to switch to a hypoallergenic canned food for him. He will have very few teeth left after all is said and done. 😔

Perspective

Olivia was blown away by how small her feet were at birth. Keep in mind that Olivia has small feet for a 6 year old (she wears about an 11 shoe.) I had never even thought of doing this. It was all Olivia's idea.

Here is an example of one of the many differences between a preemie and a micro preemie. Abigail was born at 35 weeks and Olivia and Logan were born at 23 weeks. I forget sometimes that Abigail was born 5 weeks early.

My two girls are so very special. Love them to pieces!!!

Red ribbon Week

For some reason, I didn't get a picture of her on Monday aka Red day. But, here is neon day. She even got a neon pink stripe in her hair.

Hat day in her favorite hat.

Pajama day. I wish I had videotaped all the kids getting off the bus in their pajamas. It was too sweet!!

Favorite team day. She had a choice between my Shockers or daddy's Wildcats. And well, I guess daddy's influence over her won.

Thursday, October 24, 2013

My back has been giving me tons of grief lately. I'm used to neck/upper back pain, but this mid back pain is entirely new. After exhausting all of my ideas (heat, ice, Aleve, Lortab, etc) I decided to have it checked out at the doctor. I have a rhomboid strain which can be hard to recover from since I use those muscles all the time!

Picking up and carrying Abigail

Getting the stroller in and out of the van

Carrying Abigail and her pink car out of the house and down the steps to go to the bus stop every day.

Falling asleep with Abigail in the recliner.

Getting Abigail in and out of her crib

It hurts so bad I can't even take a deep breath! I'm hoping these muscle relaxers will help and not make me too loopy!

I can't even get Abigail in her crib, so she gets to nap on the floor. (And where she is, Tobey follows.)

Morning yoga hasn't helped, but Olivia loves it.

On top of it, Olivia has had a bad cold this week ( I knew that would happen after I had bragged about her being so healthy) and now Abigail has it. My poor snotty nosed babies. Hoping we all feel better soon!

ABCs

Every night we go through the alphabet and Olivia has to tell me a word that starts with each letter. Last night when she got to G, she said "gnaw." LOL! I told her a few weeks ago how gnaw started with a g as in "Abigail gnawed on her crib" and she remembered. Wow! She's so smart!

Photo Shoot

It was a beautiful day to get outside, so I decided to do a little photo shoot with Abigail. I just took these with my iPhone, totally impromptu, but I think they turned out cute!! I had an adorable model though!!!

Happy 11 Months

Wow, do you know how hard it was to get a picture of her smiling, sitting down and showing the number 11?

Two out of the three here.

She is smiling here.

And sitting and showing the number 11 here. The days of sitting her in the chair are gone!

She has just taken off this month! Crawling, pulling up, cruising furniture and attempting to stand unassisted. She also recently learned that her finger fits perfectly up her nose. Her sense of accomplishment about this is hilarious!

She weighs about 21 lbs and is the best eater I've ever seen. Had she been my first baby, I would not come close to understanding the challenges
of having a child who doesn't eat well. And she is so smart! You show her something one time and she gets it! She says mama, dada, baba, baaa (for bath) and the other day while playing with Olivia's hamster, she said Pinky.

She is just an amazingly awesome baby and watching her grow and develop these past 11 months has been such a blessing.
