Friday, April 17, 2009 - Update

I'm getting used to my glasses.
Mother? I think my 15 minutes are up.

They're not too bad.

I found out mommy has them too!!!

I once said that if Olivia ever got glasses, I would wear mine more as well. Now, I'm eating my words. I normally only wear mine when I drive. . .at night. But, I thought maybe if she saw me wearing glasses, she would think it was okay to wear hers too. She's doing great with them, although I think they are a little big for her (even though they were the smallest frames they had.) I'll probably take them in to see if they can be adjusted and if a strap would help keep them up on her face. I only make her wear them for 15 minutes or so at a time and I'm so proud of how she's doing.

We're looking forward to the March for Babies tomorrow. Still praying for nice weather and a good turn-out. Can't wait!

Good-bye Sephs

Taryn and Persephone as babies
Persephone

What a sweetie!

This morning, I lost another guinea pig. . .my sweet Persephone. It actually isn't all that surprising since we lost Taryn a month ago and the two of them were the best of friends. We got them together as babies and they've been together for the past 6 years. I knew something was wrong with Persephone on Wed. night. She was acting similar to how Morgan acted after she had her stroke. I had taken Morgan to the vet and learned that there was nothing that I could do. . .just something that happens with old age. I was able to spend time with Persephone last night, however, and I knew she wouldn't make it through the night. Of course, now that leaves me with just two guinea pigs. . . Penelope and Harrison, both without pen-mates.

Persephone was the smallest of all the guinea pigs. . .even with all of her hair. She was very petite and very sweet. She didn't have a mean bone in her body. I think she also had the most nicknames. We called her Sephs, Sephy, Sephalufagus, etc. She will be very missed.

March for Babies Reminder

Are you ready for the march on Saturday?

I just wanted to pass along a few reminders about the March for Babies this Saturday.

* It is this Saturday, April 18th. Be there between 9 - 9:15 am to sign our banner, be in our team pictures, see the t-shirt contest, etc. The walk around the river starts at 10!
* It is at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium this year.
* If you have an Olivia and Logan Team t-shirt, be sure to wear it. If you don't, put on something yellow and you'll blend right in. Since the weather might be a bit cooler (and hopefully not rainy) some of us are going to try to wear a white long sleeve shirt underneath our t-shirt in lieu of a jacket.
* Lunch will follow the 2 mile walk around the river.
* Oh, if you have bracelets and/or buttons from last year. . .be sure to wear them as well!!!

Can't wait to see many of you on Saturday!!

Wednesday, April 15, 2009 - Update

Olivia's eyeglass holder

She wore them just long enough to snap a picture. .

The question is, who will wear them more. . .the giraffe or Olivia. I hate pushing the glasses too much today because I think Olivia feels worse. She has developed a cough and her nose is running even more than usual. She even took a nap about an hour and a half after waking up, which isn't like her. Please pray that she starts feeling better soon.

Tax Day Is Still No Laughing Matter

We had to post this video in honor of last year's video . . .one of my favorite videos of all time. Last year, we just happened to catch Olivia's very first laugh on video. . .and it just happened to be on Tax Day. I still love to hear her laugh today as much as I did then. She has one of the sweetest, most contagious laughs I have ever heard! Enjoy!

First Day In Glasses

So, these are glasses?
I don't know about these. . .
I'm just going to take them off, okay?

What about this look? Does it make me look sophisticated?

We picked up her glasses today and as you can tell. . .they are impossible to keep on. Our goal is 5 seconds. As we're putting them on, we praise her and tell her that she looks so cute. She smiles and lets us put them on her, but then takes them right off. We'll just keep trying. . .I'm sure she'll get it at some point. I hope so. . .as much as they cost!

Monday, April 13, 2009 - Update

Aren't I sweet?

Today is a very special day for me. Two years ago, I found out that I was pregnant. My doctor suspected multiples because my HCG level was 297. I would later discover that I was pregnant with triplets. I remember everything about that day. It was a Friday and I was at work and it was snowing. . .yes, snowing on April 13th. It was one of the happiest days of my life. I remember getting the phone call from my reproductive endocrinologist who informed me of the news while I was standing in the file room at work. I could not wait to call Ryan and tell him that he was going to be a daddy. The day could not go by fast enough and it was hard to get any work done.

I remember, as I struggled to get pregnant, praying that if I were to lose a baby. . .I would prefer not to get pregnant at all. After trying so hard for a baby, the thought of anything happening to my pregnancy seemed more than I could bear. Thank goodness for unanswered prayers. Little did I know. . .I would miscarry a baby and lose my one month old infant son. But, without going through all of that. . .I would not have Olivia. Sometimes we have to go through unspeakable pain in life to experience the joy that it has to offer. I will forever be grateful for that day two years ago when I felt that my dreams were finally coming true. What a feeling that was!! My dreams did not play out the way that I envisioned, but Olivia is truly a dream come true.

Easter Photos

How hard could it be to get a little girl to sit still for one good Easter picture? Very!! Last Easter wasn't that hard. Because she doesn't feel good, I didn't make her wear tights or shoes and I didn't try really hard. But, here's what I got. She looked adorable in her dress, though. Her dress matches her cousins' dresses and hopefully we'll get a picture of all of them together. Speaking of cousins. . .Julia's birthday is tomorrow (4-13.) We hope you have a wonderful birthday!!

Maybe she'd sit still in her rocking chair? Or not.

How about we try a picture on the floor?

No.

She would much rather sit and play with her new dolly.

So, I tried to bribe her with Puffs.

That didn't work either.

This was the best one that I got.

Olivia is still not feeling very well and neither is Ryan, so our weekend hasn't been too fun. I just wanted to get our March for Babies t shirts done, but we ran out of yellow ink. So, not too fun or productive. Hopefully, everyone will start feeling better soon. I hope all of you had a wonderful Easter.
