What A Surprise!!!

Do you guys remember about 2 years ago when I flew to Ohio to surprise my friend, Amanda, for her birthday?  Well,  today the surprise was on ME when SHE flew here to surprise me for my baby shower!  Can you believe it?  All the way from Ohio for my baby shower?? I was blown away!

Thank you to everyone who helped pull this together.  I am so incredibly excited for my shower tomorrow! Not only is it officially fall, but I’ll officially be in my third trimester tomorrow and celebrating with some very special people.  I feel so blessed!

And Her Name Will Be. . .

Abigail

It's tough to come up with a name that feels perfect.  But, you know when you pick the right one because it does.  I love that both Olivia and Abigail have 1 L in their name for their brother Logan.  And, as my dear friend (and mother of 4 boys) says: They both have 2 i's that you can dot with hearts.

We are all so madly in love with Abigail and can't wait to meet her (but not until December, of course.)

Lots of things to update you on.  I had a FFN (fetal fibronectin) test this week.  It basically tells you your chance of going into labor within the next two weeks.  It came back negative which means I have a 99% chance that I’ll at least make it to 28 weeks!  This is great news and such a relief!!  Of course, I fully intend on going much farther! But, after giving birth at 23 weeks. . .each day and each week is such a milestone.

I also met with my endocrinologist today and he set me up to meet with a dietician tomorrow because of my blood sugar issues.  So, I’m excited to meet with her and figure out a plan to keep it under better control.  I just want to make sure I’m doing everything I can for this baby.  I have to strictly monitor my blood sugars now and email them to my endocrinologist.  Then, he will determine if I need to go on insulin until the baby is born.

Anyway, I’ll leave you with some pictures of my adorable girl!

26 Weeks

photo (57)

Current size of baby: Head of lettuce

How far along? 26 weeks

Total weight gain: 21 lbs

Inches Gained: 5.5 inches

Maternity clothes? Yes.

Sleep: Not as good. Thanks to my pregnancy pillow, however, I’ve been able to sleep better.

How I'm feeling: So incredibly tired. And it’s that “I’ve been crying all day” kind of wiped out feeling. My blood sugar has been all over the place which contributes to the fatigue. There are foods that I spent months trying to find that wouldn’t raise my blood sugar and now they do. I’m a bit terrified that I’m going to have to go on insulin, especially since I can’t exercise to improve my blood sugar. I see my endocrinologist on Wednesday. Through it all, I feel incredibly blessed to be this far.

Best moment this week: Buying some really cute fall maternity clothes. And I found the most comfortable maternity jeans ever!! I’m determined to keep wearing them long after the baby is here!

Movement: Yes. I can now SEE the movement sometimes which I’ve never experienced before.

Food cravings: Chex Mix Puppy Chow, which I can’t even have in the house anymore. Sweets are completely off limits from now on.

Food aversions: Sadly, I could eat any and everything placed before me.

Gender: Girl

Labor Signs: NO

Belly Button in or out? Out

What I miss: Being able to sleep in any position I want to.

What I am looking forward to: My baby shower! I am so excited to be able to attend (and not on bedrest) and to still be pregnant at my shower. I can’t wait to spend the afternoon with my family and friends! I’m also officially announcing her name on the blog next weekend!!

Milestones: Third trimester??!!? Not sure when that officially starts. . .26 weeks? 27 or 28? Who knows, it’s all new to me. J
