Monday, June 23, 2008 - Update

Missy Mess

I don't know how well you can tell in this picture, but Olivia was covered in carrots today. Notice her patch (second patch of the day) is in the process of being pulled off and it is covered in carrots. Her pants were even worse. But, it made her so happy. . .and she's such a good eater!

Something I'm growing increasingly concerned about is this shuddering thing that Olivia does. It's just a quick little shiver like she has a chill or something. The first 50 or so times that she's done it, I attributed it to what she was eating or that she was cold. Now, it's becoming more frequent and she probably does it close to 20 times a day. Any ideas as to what this could be? I'm tempted to call the doctor on it this week.

I talked to Ryan around lunch time and his first day is going great! He has his own parking stall and everything. Please pray that it continues to go well.

Hey Jodi,
Thank you so much for all of your kind words in the past few weeks. It is so reassuring to know that I am not the only mom in the world that feels this pain daily. It is nice to feel like I am not alone.
As far as the shivering that Olivia does...Ellie Grace does that as well. It is usually when she has gone to the potty in her diaper. It started last summer and I was just as worried as you are. Ellie Grace still does it after she uses the big girl potty. You may want to still call the doc...I would hate to be wrong! Anyway, thanks again for all of your support so many states away. It means the world to me!

Hi,
My son does the exact same thing-he was born at 29 weeks. It is usually when he is eating or is concentrating on somthing. Both my mom and my husband's mom saw him do it so we took him to the doctor. The doctor said to watch him, but didn't think it was a seizure. He has been doing it less frequently lately. Maisie

That shivering thing is interesting... my son (25 wkr) does the same thing but not near as frequently. His grandma always says it's because he's going potty. I've never thought about it being related to prematurity. Let us know what your dr says.

Kerrick would do that too when he was eating baby food and at other times also. He seems to have pretty much grown out of it. As you know, he was very full term.

I've been reading your blog for a long time, I started when a friend sent me a blog for a friend of a friend's babies (Kinnick & Carver) but have never commented befofe. Olivia is beautiful and I love reading her updates! Anyway, I've known a lot of babies to shiver, preemie or not when they urinate.
