So much for being stress-free. . .

We weighed Olivia tonight. When she went to the doctor last week, she weighed 17 lbs 10 oz. On Sunday we weighed her and she was 17 lbs 5 oz. Today (only 3 days later) she is barely 16 lbs!! She has lost over a pound in 3 days!!! I'm thinking it's probably just a delayed to reaction to how little she ate for awhile there. I just keep telling myself. . .she's happy, she's healthy, she doesn't seem hungry. . .she must be eating enough. If she were, however, I don't think she would be losing that much weight. What in the world am I doing wrong? Do I just need to let her gnaw on a stick of butter? This is so frustrating. . . .

When can I come over and drop off those few extra pounds for her????

Hang in there and TRY not to stress too much. She's happy, she's healthy, she's happy, she's healthy, she's happy...:0)

It sounds like you're doing absolutely everything correctly unfortunately. Making eating as stress free for her as possible and not pushing her is key. I forget, and you haven't mentioned, but is she getting any feeding therapy? Trying to get them to eat enough to grow without a tube can be an absolutely nightmare. I blame most of my gray hairs on the period of time when we were trying to get rid of the NG and avoid doing the g-tube way back when.

Oh, I hear you on the weight gain issue. We've been hovering around the same weight now for MONTHS. Being sick doesn't help, and Jaxson isn't the best eater either. We could probably compare notes on that. I know how frustrating it is, for sure. But he is happy and healthy, and Olivia seems to be the same! Try not to stress too much, I know it's hard! I wish you the best... if you need any ideas, let me know... my e-mail is anniem222@hotmail.com

Take care,
Ann
ps- Olivia is adorable!
