Thursday, May 27, 2010 Update

I am finally able to post pictures more easily, so I thought I'd post a couple. Olivia has become very particular about what she wears. Izzy is going through a similar stage so I figured we'd have a few months before Olivia went through it. . . apparently not. Olivia will not wear dresses or capris. I think she is confused about whether capris are supposed to be pants or shorts. She will not wear jean shorts. And, she's at the point where she can take most clothes off, so it's hard to keep things on her that she doesn't want to wear. I can understand why she doesn't like certain clothes, but others are surprising. Sometimes I just have to let her pick something out. Some days, we don't match all that well but, if she's happy. . .I'm happy too.

hannah is being that way about SHOES and it's driving me nuts. and she keeps picking ones that are pretty much too small. the shoe fairy needs to visit her shoe basket and remove a few pairs!!

ahhhh yes.. The "I don't wanna wear/I wanna wear" stage.. lol... I remember when Jake was 3.. almost 4.. I put him in a muscle shirt.. ya know, a tshirt without any sleeve at all.. and he was like... "please mom, please don't make me wear this! Kids will make fun of me!".. I felt so bad, cause he was tooootally being genuine with his thoughts.. so.. I didn't push him to wear it.. It seems to be the 3-4 year age that they do that... my advice is.. it's cute when they mix and match their clothes, and they will only be little for so long.. so.. eventhought it might kill you (it did me!).. let her do it.. lol.. Nathan wore CARS house slippers to church Sunday.. lol.. :) She's so cute!

Good luck! We've been dealing with the clothes issue since Katie was about 1. (7 years now) I've learned two very important things during that time. 1.) You really have to learn to pick your battles. 2.) Cowgirl boots do indeed go with everything. :-)

I remember when my oldest daughter (now almost 21) went through this stage. She even refused to take a favorite pair of clothes off at night. If she took them off for a bath or bed, she would hide them and put them back on when I left the room. She even had to wear the same pair of clothes to daycare 2 days in a row. Nobody even noticed at daycare. I was completely frustrated. I was always told that if it's not going to hurt them, it's not worth the fight. I was relieved when we started Catholic school. She had to wear the same outfit that everyone else wore everyday - no more fights. It was great!
