I am a huge believer in breast milk and I truly believe it's best, but could someone explain this to me?

Breast milk = fussy
Breast milk= fussy
Breast milk = fussy
Formula= happy, smiley
Breast milk= fussy

Kinda discouraging to me. :)

Maybe she is allergic or sensitive to something in your diet? My sister was always fussy after my mother ate seafood. Once she cut seafood out of her diet, no more fussy baby.

Not to sound like a broken record, but she sounds so similar to when my son had lactose overload. I SO wanted to nurse him, but he just couldn't handle it. He was like a different baby as soon as we went to formula.

Jodi, my pedi wasn't 100% convinced. He just thought it was "colic". Which I tend to think is just a catch all. I feel like there is usually something that causes it. Then again, I'm no doctor. It was crazy, Kade just all of the sudden turned into this fussy, gassy, baby that nursed all the time. We used a similar lactose free formula. Might try it for a few feelings. I did, mad Kade was back to his old self. A day later I tried to nurse him again, and the fussy, unhappy returned. I hope poor Abigail finds some relief soon!

If you do want to nurse, you could try cutting back on your dairy intake and keep nursing her. If that helps then you know the culprit. I know a lot of people who have had to do this. Then after a month or so they slowly reintroduce dairy in their own diets. Her digestive system is still so immature it may just take a while. Usually the digestive system is not fully mature until 6 months. Hence the gassy babies and such!

By what you posted about her sucking a bottle dry. Sounds like you aren't producing enough milk. However, I nursed both of mine and suplemented with formula. I could not pump to save my/kids life. So if I had someone else watch them they got a bottle. Or if I was somewhere I didn't feel comfortable they got a bottle. I nursed/bottle feed both of my kids for 13 months. Just keep up with fluids so you won't dry up. Nurse maybe every other time. Hope it helps. Boob or Bottle your kids are loved and that's all that really matters!

Thanks Sherry. I don't see a problem with breastfeeding and supplementing with formula. She is still getting the nutrition from breast milk either way. I'll nurse her as much as I can and supplement if I have to. :)

One thing is for sure, the fenugreek increased my supply!! But something in my milk is making her fussy. I bottle fed her my milk to see if it just wasn't coming out fast enough. She was still fussy. Going to try to get in to a lactation consultant soon and see what's going on. The way she screams sometimes, it feels like I'm poisoning her, not doing what is best for her. :(
