Sunday, December 9, 2007 - Update

Just got off the phone with an excited and nervous Mommy!

*Olivia is taking her bottle very well. She eats every 3 hours. Jodi says about 1 hour after Olivia eats she wakes up crying. They are currently giving her mylicon drops and have found the drops and rocking Olivia help to calm her back down. If the drops do not work they will move to Zantac.

* Olivia has been taking about 50cc every 3 hours in her bottle. Jodi tells me that they have found singing to Olivia while feeding her helps Olivia to stay engaged more. Feeding every 3 hours means Dad and Mom are quite tired. They are singing Christmas carols to her and trying to not forget the words since they are so tired. :)

* Olivia gained 60 grams last night. Little Miss Olivia now weighs 5lbs and 5oz.

* Jodi and Ryan have worked out a great feeding and sleeping schedule for when Olivia goes home. They have their shifts all worked out.

* Jodi forgot her pajama's while grabbing Olivia's books before heading up to the hospital. I think Ryan was suprised to learn he forgot to pack his pj's too! Poor dad has been sleeping in his blue jeans.

* Olivia will be heading home with the nasal cannula. She is on 25% while not feeding and at 50% while feeding. This helps her not to have any brady's while feeding.

* Jodi says Olivia hasn't had any brady's since Friday. Olivia has desaturated a couple of times however. She does this when feeding and forgets to breathe.

* Jodi tells me that after her pediatrician visit tomorrow - Miss Olivia will be heading home!!

Jodi states she and Ryan are nervous but very excited to bring their daughter home with them. This is the day they both have been waiting and praying for. In fact - it's the day that many of have been praying for.

Pray for Jodi and Ryan as they embark upon this new and blessed adventure with their daughter.

I will have more news tomorrow!

How exciting! I remember when we brought Cooper home from the NICU, it was such an amazing feeling to walk out with our baby. No more asking if we could hold him- we got to make each and every decision for our little boy.

You all will remain in my prayers through the coming weeks. It will be at times stressful, but I know you will appreciate each and every day with your precious Olivia.

Praise God! What wonderful news to hear you will be home soon with your precious miracle, Olivia! We have been praying for this day. Let us rejoice! You will be continually lifted up in prayer each day as you learn to take care of Olivia at home.

Remember, we are only a few houses away if you ever need anything. You have many wonderful friends and family members that are helping to take care of your needs, but if you need anything quick, we are here.

Hey everyone...Jodi's Dad here again! Well, obviously we're so excited that Olivia is finally coming home! Words cannot adequately express our joy right now...what an incredible journey this has been...praise God from whom ALL blessings flow! I am so proud of Olivia...I am so proud of Jodi...I am so proud of Ryan...I am so proud of all the family and friends and people from all over who've been so caring and supportive. This blog has been such a blessing...thank you Stacie!

Olivia will try to be home today before 1:00 this afternoon. Some of you around the country may not know about the ice storm coming our way later this afternoon. The ice coming could be significant. Travel standstills, broken trees, and power outages may be a reality. Ryan's Dad has provided an excellent generator to keep some heat in the house and to keep the monitors and Mr. Pump going. It's our prayer that they arrive home before the freezing rain comes, and they weather this storm safely.

I'm sure we all know the anxiety we've experienced on that first drive home with a new baby. Pray that their drive home will be a safe one! God IS in control! May Jodi and Ryan experience HIS peace and enjoy this homecoming. Giving Olivia her first "home tour" will be so exciting!

How absolutely wonderful! We will pray that the weather holds off until you and your very precious cargo make it home! We will also pray that God will give you the peace and comfort for the coming days ahead. The moments when you freak out and think you can't do it. You can and you will. The best advice I ever got came from Pastor Cooper's wife...."You are the only mommy and daddy that Olivia has ever known. She doesn't know when you make a mistake. She loves you for who you are." God will see you thru this new stage.

Praise the Lord. We have all been praying and waiting for this day.

Don't forget to take care of yourselves -- bringing home a full-term baby is a sleep thief; so I know you guys could get to the zombie stage real fast.

Keeping you in my prayers!! Hugs...Shelly K.

Hey everyone...Jodi's Dad here again!
"WELCOME HOME OLIVIA!" Man, are those words beautiful?? Someone put a big, pink banner with those words on it on Jodi's garage door today. When Ryan, Jodi, and Olivia drove up their driveway and they saw the sign...well, it was an emotional homecoming for them...except for Olivia. She was just being her usual perfect self! Sitting in her car seat...minding her own business! I'm sure she was probably smiling.....

They left the hospital today about 12:30 or so this afternoon. Olivia had an eye exam at 1:00, but had a 2 hour delay. The three of them made the best of it in the waiting room. But, it was worth the wait, because the ROP has regressed! The Doc was SO impressed with Olivia. GO OLIVIA!!! I figure she gets an A+ on this eye test! And a big, gold star! And a happy face sticker!

I took a few things to Jodi's tonight. Jodi said today was extremely stressful. My heart goes out to her. But, talking to her this evening, she seemed better. Just to have Olivia sleeping in her bed...in her house...with Mom and Dad...man, it just doesn't get any better than that!

I'm one grateful Grandpa. Olivia is finally home...safe and sound!
