Monday, February 16, 2009 - Update

I've gotta knock that tower down!
I'm getting closer!
Olivia's eye appointment went okay, she still thinks eye doctors are the worst kind of doctors in the world. Like we thought, her eyes have steadily gotten worse. More than likely, she will need eye muscle surgery again and. . .more than likely, she will need glasses. It's not really a question of if. . .it's a question of when. Honestly, it breaks my heart because I don't want her eyesight to hold her back. As parents, we don't want anything to hold our children back. Of course, there is not a day that goes by where I am not eternally grateful for how well Olivia is doing despite her very challenging start. I know how lucky we are. I just want to do everything in my power to make sure she accomplishes whatever it is she wants to do in life. That's my promise, Olivia Paige.

I know how you feel about not wanting eye sight to hold your daughter back. But if you ever want to see a miracle, look at Lindy. According to her doctors, her eye sight is horrible. Legally blind (a prescription of like -21.00 and -13.00). But she amazes all the time with what she sees. Doctors can tell us what they think their vision is, but I can't wait until the day when Lindy can tell me what she sees. I'm sure you feel the same about Olivia being able to tell you one day.

Feeling sorry for you. But there are millions out there with eyesight problems and there is probably nothing that can't be cured or improved. She will be fine. With regard to your new blog page. I am Irish, truely irish with irish parents living in ireland and think it's funny that St Patrick's day has crossed the ocean to become a festival in the USA. Here it's a day of carnival, parades and many many drunk filled escapades. Only I have never heard of St Pattys Day before. That is certainly new to me. Usually we say Paddy's Day. (Paddy is the shortened version of the name Patrick). Anyway - have fun - hope you strike gold!

What a powerful promise! I hope that the eye surgery helps Olivia this go round. We will be praying for her and your family, like always. I was excited to hear that she is also taking steps, what a big girl!!!
