Friday, November 23, 2007- Afternoon Update

I just had to quickly share some good news because everyone can use a pick-me-up. Olivia is going to be moved out of her isolette today and into an open crib. They believe that she will be able to maintain her own body temperature. She gained another 50 grams last night which puts her at about 4 lbs 9 oz!! And. . .early this morning she was given a bottle (1:1 formula and breast milk) and she drained it dry! Yes, Olivia took the entire bottle! This is a HUGE accomplishment and means she is getting closer and closer to coming home. What an amazing little girl!! I’d like to take credit for what an amazing, strong girl she is, but I really can’t. She has been strong since the day she was born. Ryan and I are two proud parents!!

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! And a Very Merry start to the Christmas Holiday! Congratulations Olivia for being such a big girl and eating so well. Ryan and Jodi, you have been blessed with a miracle and have so much to be thankful for. Although this has been a very trying time just think about the miracle you have been able to watch that most parents never get to be a part of. It's one of the most difficult things to endure as parents, but also one of the most awesome. I'm hoping that Olivia is able to come home by the start of the New Year. She may very well do that since she is now eating from the bottle and has already met some major milestones. Once our son began eating and maintaining his own body temperature it was just a matter of a few (very short) weeks until they were saying he was ready to go home. It will flash by so fast. Congratulations! I am so excited for you.

Wow, an ENTIRE bottle!?!?!? Way to go, Olivia! You're wanting to get outta there, huh??? Just keep your temp up and pass your car seat challenge, and continue eating well and you're on your way!!! YAY!
