Wednesday, January 30, 2008 - Update

Super baby to the rescue!
Take time to smile everyday
Today Ryan let me open one of my birthday presents early. My birthday is Friday. . .unfortunately it's the big 3-0. Ryan took off work on Friday and the three of us our going to have as much fun as three people can have within the confines of your own house. Ryan got me an ipod so that I can (get this) hold Olivia in her room while rocking and listening to music. It will also come in handy this spring when Olivia and I go on our long walks. Ryan always makes my birthdays special. . ..two years ago I got a car! In three more years it will be all mine.

I called Olivia's pediatrician's office to make sure her Synagis shot was there for tomorrow. Good thing I called because our insurance company hadn't mailed it yet. It is supposed to be mailed tomorrow and we rescheduled for Friday, which is fine because that will be 29 days since her last shot. It may be a blessing because it's supposed to do the whole snowing, blowing, drifting thing tomorrow.

Olivia has become quite the bossy boss and her feisty personality still shines through. When we take our afternoon naps, we position ourselves just so and I can't stray from that position. The other day, she wanted her head right on my neck and got irritated should I want to swallow. She won't hardly let us give her the Poly-Vi-Sol or Nystatin anymore and she's learned how to spit it right back out. Today, however, she has been a sleepyhead. She barely stays awake long enough to eat before she's back to sleep again. Hopefully, she'll wake up to play a bit tonight.

Ryan is so sweet to you, I know the three of you will have a lot of fun on Friday. Is a good thing you don't have to get out of the house tomorrow. It will be to cold for Olivia.

Enjoy all of your days with your sweet Little lady, even if she wants to take a nap with her head on your neck(that is to cute).

Have a good night,
God is awesome:)

God’s Great Idea
by Jon Walker

“My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:15-16 NIV)

God spoke my son, Jeremy, into my wife’s womb, just as God spoke you into your mother’s womb. Jeremy was “fearfully and wonderfully made,” and God ordained his days, just as he’s ordained yours. (Psalm 139:14, 16 NIV)

Jeremy was one of God’s great ideas. Like you, Jeremy was an expression of God’s blue-ribbon brilliance. He was a Matisse-like masterpiece, lovingly, deliberately, and carefully created by the One True God, the creative Creator of the universe.

My son, Jeremy, died at birth because of a destructive DNA disorder called Trisomy 18, but that didn’t diminish the value of his life, his legacy, or his significance to God. Jeremy’s every chromosome fit intricately – and for now, unexplainably to us – into God’s flawless planning.

If you grasp this – “how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge” (Ephesians 3:18-19a NIV) – then you’re on your way to understanding the extraordinary value of every human life, how each individual is a masterpiece created by God.

You, too, are a masterpiece created by God.

Oswald Chambers wrote, “Individual lives are the expression of a pre-existing idea in the mind of God.” In other words, every human being is a unique, one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-repeated expression of God’s incredible creativity, and as a Christian you become a unique reflection of Jesus Christ as he works through you to serve others.

The point is, God thought you up (Jeremiah 1:5), and now he lovingly thinks of you.

You are of immeasurable worth to God, and your value is not determined by your appearance or performance, or how much time or money you can contribute, or how well you sing or teach – or how long you live. The value of any container is determined by its contents, and you are a one and only, custom-made container of Uncommon Stuff – as a believer, you contain the very life of God.

Rejoice in this truth, and be set free.

What does this mean?

· God’s love transforms – When you understand your value to God, you will be less likely to sin. His love will compel you to walk in the light. If you deeply and truly understood how much God loved you, how would your behavior change?

· We devalue others – When we think in such terms as “You’re valuable to me as long as you’re useful” or “You’re valuable to me as long as I enjoy your company.” This reduces people to mere tools or objects of pleasure.

God’s masterpiece is on the couch – If you are God’s masterpiece, so is the couch potato in your house, or the person at church who you diplomatically describe as “contrary.” (That’s the Southerner (U.S.) in me coming out – ha!)

Hey I just ordered an ipod myself! It should be here right about my birthday! Then I'll see if I can figure out how to work it.

I'm glad the three of you are going to have a special day for your birthday. Sheesh we're old! Haha!

How awesome! Enjoy you're iPod! It really comes in handy to cheer you up, but you already have a bundle of joy! She sounds like she's doing so well, I'm glad that her shots and everything will be ready for her when she goes back in! It's good that you won't have to go through all that frusteration like last time!
I forgot to mention that one of my new classes is health, and we learned about our first big project a few days ago. We have to pick a topic, and do tons of research, make a powerpoint, write a 2-page paper, and some other small things, but anyway, my topic is RSV! Not that it's a good thing, but I thought I could get most of my answers and info right here! I have been using that link that Jodi posted, about a month ago, it has been so helpful! Also, on my powerpoint, I was hoping you would allow me to use a couple pictures of Livi, and just explain some of the precautions, and what would happen if she were to catch it. I hope you don't mind, I think it would be so cute!
Love you all!
Stay Strong,
Shea♥

She's growing up fast!
FYI we STILL *started in the NICU)put Poly Vi Sol in a little bit of milk and the kids drink it out of their bottles...maybe that will work!

This may sound a little bit mean, but as soon as you squirt the medicine in her mouth, blow into her face very quickly. A baby's reflex is to swallow when that quick burst of air hits their face.
